WHAT'S THAT ?

MODAL

Elastic. Modal products are naturally elastic due to their internal properties, making them particularly suitable for comfortable casual wear or sleepwear.

Soft. The fabric is compared to natural silk because it is very soft and gentle.

Absorbs moisture. Moisture absorption is 50% better than cotton.

Durable. The fabric is extremely durable, so it is suitable for frequent use, and it is long-lasting if we take proper care of it.

Falling. Similar to viscose or other silk alternatives, modal has a beautiful drape to the fabric.

Ecological. Manufactured and extracted from natural materials, less chemicals are used in production than other types of viscose.

Does not cover. Modal does not tangle, as its texture is extremely smooth.

Does not fade. With a proper fabric structure, the dye retains its natural color throughout washing, preventing the fading process.

Does not shrink or stretch. Unlike most forms of viscose, modal does not shrink in the wash.

Biodegradable. Modal is fully biodegradable.

Does not wrinkle. Minimal creasing and quick straightening.

Breathable. Modal is great for sports and casual wear because it is highly breathable.

PRODUCTION

ADVANTAGES

Modal is considered a luxury textile and is often blended with other fabrics due to its lightness and softness.

Modal is a bio-based fabric created by spinning cellulose, which is extracted from beech wood. It is known as an organic alternative to cotton mainly because beech trees require significantly less water to grow. As a result, the production process uses about 10-20 times less water than cotton.

Modal, also known as artificial silk, is a semi-synthetic fabric made from beech wood pulp. It is valued for its softness and shine, and is commonly used in clothing and household items. Similar to regular viscose, modal is more durable and flexible. It is often blended with other fibers like cotton, elastane, or polyester to enhance its strength. Due to its unique properties and production cost, modal is considered a luxury textile.

Modal was originally developed in the 1950s in Japan. Currently, the majority of modal production is produced in Austria and China. Today, modal fibers also have different varieties, such as MicroModal and Modal Air. These varieties are even finer than standard modal fabric, making the end product even softer and more durable.

Despite being plant-based, modal undergoes chemical treatment with substances like sodium hydroxide and carbon disulfide during production, making it a semi-synthetic fabric. Modal, a type of viscose fabric, is known for its durability and softness. It effectively absorbs moisture, allows the body to breathe, and is non-allergenic. Additionally, it maintains its color, doesn't fade, and resists wrinkling. With proper care, clothes made from modal fabric can last a long time.
